Baseball Recap: South Bend Saint Joseph's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but South Bend Saint Joseph ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Mishawaka Marian Knights 5-3. The Huskies' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Josh Dolniak looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Brady Langager was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Washburn, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases and one run.

South Bend Saint Joseph pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Mishawaka Marian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Bend Saint Joseph will welcome Northridge at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Mishawaka Marian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Westview at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
