Basketball Preview: Tri-West Hendricks Bruins vs. Martinsville Artesians
Tri-West Hendricks has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Martinsville Artesians at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tri-West Hendricks has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Southmont scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, Tri-West Hendricks still came out on top. Tri-West Hendricks walked away with a 68-56 win over the Mounties. Given Tri-West Hendricks' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Mounties are ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tri-West Hendricks' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drew Miller led the charge by scoring 16 points along with six assists and two steals. Miller hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Max Robertson, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Martinsville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 67-46 walloping at the hands of Speedway.
Tri-West Hendricks' win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Martinsville, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
