Baseball Game Preview: Sierra Vista Dons vs. Azusa Aztecs

Sierra Vista has gone 7-2 against Azusa recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Sierra Vista will head out on the road to challenge Azusa at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sierra Vista played against Duarte on Thursday and won via forfeit.

The result came thanks to Raul Zelaya's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Sierra Vista is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Sierra Vista's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Donnie Reyes, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Azusa is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Garey by a score of 10-5 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Aztecs.

Sierra Vista's record now sits at 5-8. As for Azusa, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-5.

Sierra Vista couldn't quite get it done against Azusa in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can Sierra Vista avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
