Recap: Bel Air Highlanders vs. Hanks Knights
After a string of four wins, the Bel Air Highlanders's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 65-39 defeat at the hands of Hanks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Bel Air has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Bel Air saw an underclassman step up: Jayde Martinez scored 15 points along with four steals. Adalyn Palomo was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Anette Hernandez was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds for Hanks. Hernandez hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 20 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisy Fernandez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Bel Air's defeat ended a 16-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-4. As for Hanks, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 18-11 record this season.
Bel Air will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ysleta at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Ysleta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday. As for Hanks, they will head out on the road to challenge Horizon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Horizon has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12.
