Basketball Recap: Aurora West College Prep Academy Comes Up Short

If Aurora West College Prep Academy was feeling good fresh off their 52-17 takedown of Girls Athletic Leadership School - Denver last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Aurora West College Prep Academy Spartans were outmatched by the Loveland Classical Lions and fell 68-14. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-5.

Nevaeh Flores Duran was Aurora West College Prep Academy's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Clementine Uwamahoro held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Kaelyn Doan went supernova for Loveland Classical, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine assists. The dominant performance gave Doan a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Journee Brown, who went 8 of 11 en route to 16 points and seven boards.

Aurora West College Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Loveland Classical, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing STEM School Highlands Ranch the next time they take the court. Aurora West College Prep Academy will head out to face STEM School Highlands Ranch at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Loveland Classical will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th.
