Baseball Recap: Lyons Comes Up Short

Lyons extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 14-4 to the Clyde-Savannah Golden Eagles. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lyons saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett VanAuken, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Clyde-Savannah, the victory got them back to even at 1-1. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2025 (when they won 18-1).

On Clyde-Savannah's side, Spencer Bloomer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Bloomer a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with five RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Garrett Carr, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Isaac Bloomer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.
