Softball Game Preview: Vina Red Devils vs. Red Bay Tigers

The Vina Red Devils will square off against the Red Bay Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Vina has three straight victories, Red Bay has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Vina made easy work of Phillips and carried off a 15-2 win. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Lana Bell made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Harleigh Ridge was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Braxtyn Quinn was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Vina was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Red Bay challenged Phil Campbell on Tuesday. The Tigers fell 9-6 to the Bobcats.

Red Bay's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Vina, their record is now 13-17.

Everything went Vina's way against Red Bay when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Vina made off with a 13-0 victory. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
