Preview: Taylor Ducks vs. Austin Achieve Polar Bears
Taylor is 3-0 against Austin Achieve since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Taylor Ducks will head out on the road to challenge the Austin Achieve Polar Bears at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Smithville scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Taylor still came out on top. Taylor simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Smithville 88-56 on the road.
It was another big night for Treos Richardson, who scored 21 points along with eight steals and six assists. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Eli Laurence was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Austin Achieve had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Smithville, posting a 83-29 win at home. The victory was just what Austin Achieve needed coming off of a 67-33 loss in their prior contest.
Taylor's victory bumped their record up to 11-17. As for Austin Achieve, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-18.
Everything came up roses for Taylor against Austin Achieve in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 88-48 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Taylor since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
