Pomperaug and Weston are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Trojans at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Pomperaug's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Weston has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Pomperaug was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Notre Dame Prep 3-2.

Brayden Cloutier tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Pomperaug saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dom Creaco, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Louis Nevadamski also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Weston's offense. They came up short against Masuk on Monday, falling 11-0.

Pomperaug's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Weston, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Pomperaug couldn't quite finish off Weston in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 and fell 4-2. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
