Baseball Game Preview: Tracy Bulldogs vs. Lodi Flames

For the second straight game, Tracy will face off against Lodi. The Bulldogs will take on the Flames at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Tracy has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Lodi will arrive with seven straight wins.

Tracy fell victim to Lodi and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 20-0 to the Flames.

For Lodi's part, Landon Beasley made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Beasley has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charlie Casazza, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Takahashi, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lodi kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.

Lodi pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Tracy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tracy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lodi struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
