Softball Recap: Dougherty Valley Wins Going Away Against Mt. Diablo

Dougherty Valley was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Mt. Diablo on Thursday. The Dougherty Valley Wildcats were the clear victor by a 19-0 margin over the Mt. Diablo Red Devils. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Marissa Lee looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Laura Osborn was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Lohe, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Dougherty Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Dougherty Valley's record is now 3-1. As for Mt. Diablo, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dougherty Valley will challenge Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Diablo, they will take on Northgate at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Diablo has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
