Basketball Recap: Eric Nwoko's Big Game Can't Quite Lead DC International over Veritas Collegiate Academy

The DC International Dragons came up short against the Veritas Collegiate Academy Spartans on Saturday, falling 85-65. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Dragons came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 26th in District of Columbia, while the Spartans are ranked 187th in Virginia).

Several Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eric Nwoko, who went 11 for 12 on his way to 22 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Moore, who posted 12 points in addition to eight assists and six boards.

Even though they lost, DC International was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

This is the second loss in a row for DC International and nudges their season record down to 5-8. As for Veritas Collegiate Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 5-8.

DC International wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-59 win against Bard on the 1st. As for Veritas Collegiate Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-51 victory against Parkside on the 29th.
