Soccer Game Preview: Jefferson vs. Cherokee Bluff

The Jefferson Dragons will challenge the Cherokee Bluff Bears on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Jefferson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let Dawson County get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. Jefferson's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six games.

Meanwhile, Cherokee Bluff entered their tilt with Gilmer on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Bobcats 10-0.

Jefferson pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those nine contests. As for Cherokee Bluff, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.

Jefferson was able to grind out a solid win over Cherokee Bluff when the teams last played back in March, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
