Basketball Game Preview: Waterford Wildcats vs. Belpre Golden Eagles

The Waterford Wildcats will challenge the Belpre Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It was a proper cat-fight when Waterford faced off against Frontier on Tuesday. Waterford fell just short of Frontier by a score of 49-47. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Belpre was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost to Parkersburg at home by a 58-44 margin. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 489th in Ohio, while the Big Reds are ranked 75th in West Virginia).

Waterford's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Belpre, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Waterford came up short against Belpre when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 59-46. Can Waterford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
