Softball Recap: Southwest Guilford Comes Up Short

If Southwest Guilford was feeling good fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Grimsley on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cowboys fell just short of the Northwest Guilford Vikings by a score of 7-6 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent loss being a 9-5 defeat last Friday.

Makayla Stefanik was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Aniya Harris was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs.

Southwest Guilford's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Northwest Guilford, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Southwest Guilford will venture away from home to square off against West Forsyth at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Cowboys surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northwest Guilford, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-2 defeat against Northern Guilford on the 2nd.
