League recap: Matanzas scores huge upset over Creekside

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Matanzas, who took down 170th ranked Creekside, 14-7. Stefan Tucker ran for 76 yards in the win.

Ponte Vedra extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 4 this week by beating Palatka, 31-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Nease's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Augie Debiase threw for 53 and one touchdown and Justin Johnson had 62 yards receiving. On the ground Ulysses Bryant chipped in 279 yards. Ryan Fultz helped Nease's passing attack out by catching two balls for eight yards.

6-foot-4 quarterback Matt Deegan of Ponte Vedra is the league leader in passing yards this season with 693. He has also thrown four touchdowns. On the ground, the Panthers' Bryant has rushed for 1086 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Johnson. The Nease star has 16 catches for 329 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Knights take on Mike Lloyd's team. Creekside is currently in fourth, while the Sharks are in first.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Greg Stanton's team takes on Ponte Vedra. The Knights have allowed 135 points this season, while the Sharks have given up 96.

The Pirates were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in 5A District 4. Earlier in the week, Matanzas defeated Creekside 14-7.
