Pilgrim faced Smithfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Patriots came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sentinels, sneaking past 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 two weeks ago.

Gretchen Dombeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Genna D'Amato was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. Carli Harker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The win snapped Pilgrim's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-4 record. As for Smithfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Pilgrim nor Smithfield have any future games scheduled.
