Basketball Recap: Hug Hawks vs. Spring Creek Spartans
Hug lost against Spring Creek back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hug Hawks took a hard 53-34 fall against the Spring Creek Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Spartans are ranked 20th).
It was another big night for Tayden Francis, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds for Spring Creek. Francis' afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Scott Bylund was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven boards and four steals.
Hug's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Spring Creek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Hug will take on North Valleys at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North Valleys is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season. As for Spring Creek, they will challenge Lowry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Spring Creek will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
