Baseball Game Preview: Salmon Savages vs. West Jefferson Panthers

Salmon is on a four-game streak of home losses, and West Jefferson an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Salmon Savages will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Jefferson Panthers at 1:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Salmon fell victim to North Fremont and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 2-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Savages were not able to get on the board.

Salmon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kesl Severe, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Severe has hit this season.

Challis hit West Jefferson with a five-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers came up short against the Vikings, falling 12-2.

Salmon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5-1. As for West Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

West Jefferson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Salmon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. It's a different story for West Jefferson, though, as they've only averaged .337. Will they be able to contain Salmon's hitters?
