Basketball Recap: Argos Falls Short of Triton in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Argos can now relate to. They fell to the Triton Trojans 40-36. The Dragons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 37-36.

Argos' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alydiah Leed, who posted 14 points and four steals, and Ellie Bollenbacher, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 14 points. That was a full 38.9% of Argos' points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ava Vanderweele also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Triton's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydney King, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Sierra Hawley, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Argos has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Triton, they moved to 3-22 with that victory, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.

Argos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Triton, they will face off against Elkhart Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Triton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
