Soccer Game Preview: Windsor vs. Cardinal Newman

Windsor and Cardinal Newman are an even 4-4-2 against one another since February of 2016, but likely not for long. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Windsor face off against the Cardinal Newman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Windsor gave up the first goal on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Ukiah. The win was all the more spectacular given the Jaguars' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Wildcats are ranked 29th).

Windsor hit Ukiah with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Marco Soto, Adrian Angel, and Yahir Trejo.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman kept a clean sheet against Maria Carrillo on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pumas, sneaking past 1-0.

Cardinal Newman pushed their record up to 5-2-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Windsor, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-1-1 and their overall record up to 9-3-2.
