Palm Desert entered their tilt with Beaumont on Saturday with 11 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 12. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cougars a 3-0 shutout. The Aztecs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

Palm Desert got a great performance from Tyler Nicolay as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, Nicolay posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Mason Smith was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Palm Desert hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.

Palm Desert pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Beaumont, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-20.

Coming up, Palm Desert will head out to square off against Xavier Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Aztecs 2.5, the Saints 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Beaumont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Redlands at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars are facing the Terriers at the right time seeing as the Terriers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
