Basketball Game Preview: Roscommon Bucks vs. Alcona Tigers

The Roscommon Bucks will venture away from home to challenge the Alcona Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Roscommon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season.

Roscommon is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Beal City on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Roscommon took a blow against Beal City, falling 78-44. While losing is never fun, the Bucks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 493rd, while the Aggies are ranked 167th).

Roscommon might have lost, but man, Keaton Pratt was a machine: he posted 17 points and five steals. The match was Pratt's third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Barnes, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Alcona waltzed into their game on Friday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They walked away with a 54-45 victory over the Patriots.

Roscommon dropped their record down to 6-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Alcona, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.

Roscommon beat Alcona 64-51 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roscommon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
