Basketball Game Preview: King Mustangs vs. Gregory-Portland Wildcats

The King Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Gregory-Portland Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, King came up short against Flour Bluff and fell 51-39.

Meanwhile, Gregory-Portland entered their tilt with Flour Bluff on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Hornets 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since November 23, 2024.

Gregory-Portland is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 29-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.1 points per game. As for King, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-19.

King might still be hurting after the 74-53 loss they got from Gregory-Portland in their previous matchup back in January. Can King avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
