Softball Game Preview: Danvers Falcons vs. Newburyport Clippers

The Danvers Falcons will face off against the Newburyport Clippers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Danvers came up short against Masconomet Regional and fell 10-7.

Lila Flynn made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Briley Keezer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Newburyport was able to grind out a solid victory over Ipswich on Wednesday, taking the game 13-10. The win continues a trend for the Clippers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Newburyport got a massive performance out of Lilah Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Isla DeVivo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

Newburyport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Danvers' loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Newburyport, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything went Danvers' way against Newburyport in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Danvers made off with a 9-3 victory. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Clippers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
