Baseball Recap: Morehead's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Morehead's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They skirted past the Walkertown Wolfpack 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted against the Wolfpack since March 22, 2022.

Tanner Rippey made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Rippey wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Reece Dunovant, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Dayln Hutchens also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

With the win, Morehead broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-6. As for Walkertown, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Morehead will square off against rival Reidsville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Walkertown is set to take on their familiar foe McMichael at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
