Soccer Game Preview: Oxford vs. Elk Rapids

The Oxford Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Elk Rapids Elks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Oxford barely beat Novi the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Oxford was the clear victor by a 5-1 margin over Novi on Tuesday. Considering Oxford's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Elk Rapids kept a clean sheet against Grayling on Monday. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 6-0 win. Elk Rapids might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by five goals or more this season.

Elk Rapids' victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Oxford, they moved to 4-8-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Oxford took their victory against Elk Rapids when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Elks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
