Volleyball Recap: Avon Triumphs

Avon hadn't done well against Holbrook recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Panthers walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Bulldogs. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

While Avon might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Holbrook scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 21-25, 27-25, 25-20.

Manaelle Narcisse paced Avon's offense, picking up 13 kills. Narcisse also shared the team's lead in assists with Kieu-Vy Tran: they picked up three each. Narcisse also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Marielle Muyamina, racking up six apiece.

The win made it two in a row for Avon and bumps their season record up to 7-1. As for Holbrook, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avon will head out to face off against Sturgis East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holbrook, they will take on Calvary Chapel Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
