Softball Recap: Memorial Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

Memorial had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Northbrook on Friday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Raiders. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Elise Adams made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Adams was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sophie Vlasak was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Borrego, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

Memorial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Northbrook, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Memorial will challenge rival Jersey Village at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Northbrook is set to square off against their familiar foe Cypress Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
