Baseball Recap: Douglas County Starts Season with Victory at Home

Douglas County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Columbine Rebels as the Douglas County Huskies made off with a 13-3 win. This was payback for the Huskies, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Caden Absher was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bricen Moore, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Douglas County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbine only posted an OBP of .318.

Columbine now has a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglas County will welcome Broomfield at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Columbine, they will be playing at home against ThunderRidge at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
