Softball Game Preview: Racine Horlick Rebels vs. Kenosha Tremper Trojans

Racine Horlick hasn't had much luck against Kenosha Tremper recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rebels will take on the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Racine Horlick has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Clinton hit Racine Horlick with a seven-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rebels might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-0 to the Cougars, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Kenosha Tremper entered their tilt with Shoreland Lutheran on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pacers a 10-0 shutout.

The result came thanks to Sophia Murphy's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Juga, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Camille Sporer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Kenosha Tremper hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Kenosha Tremper's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Racine Horlick, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Racine Horlick suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Kenosha Tremper in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
