Basketball Recap: Rochester Drops Season-High Score on Taylor

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rochester). They claimed a resounding 58-29 win over the Taylor Titans. Given the Zebras' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Titans are ranked 355th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rochester to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rylee Clevenger, who went 8 for 14 on her way to 21 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Clevenger a new career-high in steals. Aubrey Wilson was another key player, putting up 13 points and seven steals.

Rochester was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Taylor still got an impressive performance from Jallainah Harris, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 58.6% of Taylor's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Rochester has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Taylor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

When Rochester and Taylor next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Rochester will square off against Northfield and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Taylor will try to stop Sheridan's 16-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
