Basketball Recap: Camry Krueger Key Part of Team Effort in Kougars Win

After losing to Lowell the last time they met, Kankakee Valley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Kougars walked away with a 54-43 win over the Red Devils on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Kougars.

Kankakee Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camry Krueger, who posted 16 points and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Krueger a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallorie Rose, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds.

Kankakee Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

Lowell lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brooke Dawson, who put up 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Dawson is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gatlin Hanrath, who earned five points along with 11 rebounds and six blocks.

Kankakee Valley's record now sits at 5-3. As for Lowell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-2.
