Recap: Cabrillo Jaguars vs. Lakewood Lancers
The Cabrillo Jaguars suffered their biggest defeat since December 29, 2023 on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 59-38 walloping at the hands of Lakewood. While losing is never fun, Cabrillo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 431st, while Lakewood is ranked 109th).
Leading Lakewood to victory were Anthony Williams and Keaton Lewis. Williams scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Lewis dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Lewis continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Bermudez, who scored eight points.
Cabrillo's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Lakewood, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.
Cabrillo will head out on the road to square off against Compton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Compton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 241 points over their last four matches. As for Lakewood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Long Beach Poly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Long Beach Poly will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
