Softball Recap: Hillside Comes Up Short

Hillside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Chapel Hill Wildcats. The Hornets were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Maliya Blandford made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Jaylin Robinson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Hillside's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for East Chapel Hill, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hillside will take on Chapel Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for East Chapel Hill, they will head out to take on Carrboro at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
