Softball Recap: Anderson Beats Richards School for Young Women Leaders for Their Third Straight Win

Anderson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past Richards School for Young Women Leaders 19-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 29-0 back in March.

Taylor Coggin made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was even better at the plate, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ruby Martin and Kylie Grahmann did most of the damage at the plate: Martin scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Grahmann scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Grahmann has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Patterson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Anderson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Anderson's record is now 8-10. As for Richards School for Young Women Leaders, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coming up, Anderson will square off against Bastrop at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Richards School for Young Women Leaders, they will take on McCallum at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Richards School for Young Women Leaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
