Basketball Recap: Batesburg-Leesville Comes Up Short

Batesburg-Leesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans and fell 49-21. The Panthers were down 44-18 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Taylah Leaphart was a one-woman wrecking crew for Ridge Spring-Monetta as she went 13 of 31 on her way to 26 points in addition to seven steals and five boards. Leaphart is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ny'Asia Young, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards.

Batesburg-Leesville's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

Batesburg-Leesville will head out to take on Strom Thurmond at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they will welcome Hunter-Kinard-Tyler at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
