Baseball Recap: Simla's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Simla had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They didn't even let the Elbert Bulldogs on the board on Saturday, marking the Cubs' second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Cubs have won 13 games by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

T.J. Eurich was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Simla's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Treven Kocerha was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Ethan Kissam, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Simla always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elbert only posted an OBP of .118.

The victory was the ninth in a row for Simla, bringing their record up to 14-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Elbert, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

As of now, neither Simla nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
