Preview: Emery Spartans vs. American Leadership Academy Eagles
Two dominant in Luke Justice and Zachariah Swarnes are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Emery Spartans will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the American Leadership Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Emery is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Emery has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 24 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Morgan 77-48 at home. Given Emery's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Morgan is ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Emery had a senior duo take command as Justice scored 26 points and Wade Stilson almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which Justice has scored at least 25% of Emery's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Tuttle, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, American Leadership Academy came up short against Judge Memorial Catholic on Friday and fell 57-44.
Their wins bumped Emery to 5-1 and Morgan to 2-5.
Things could have been worse for Emery, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-45 loss to American Leadership Academy when the teams last played back in January. Thankfully for Emery, Mason Farr (who dropped a triple-double on 26 points, 18 rebounds, and 10 blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
