Softball Game Preview: Hackensack Comets vs. Paramus Spartans

Hackensack hasn't had much luck against Paramus recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Comets will welcome the Spartans at 4:15 p.m. Hackensack is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Hackensack turned things around against Paterson Catholic on Thursday. They skirted past the Cougars 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Comets have posted since May 17, 2025.

The team relied heavily on Briana Darling, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Paramus beat Pascack Hills 13-9 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won three in a row.

Paramus' victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Hackensack, their win bumped their record up to 8-13-1.

Hackensack suffered a grim 17-3 defeat to Paramus in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Comets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
