Basketball Recap: Duluth Piles Up the Points Against Berkmar

Duluth's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They breezed past the Berkmar Patriots to the tune of 44-9. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Duluth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaylie Zirger, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds. Za'Ni Carter was another key player, putting up 15 points along with six boards and three steals.

Duluth was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Duluth's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-9. As for Berkmar, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Duluth will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Discovery at 4:00 p.m. on January 2, 2026. As for Berkmar, they will head out to take on Chattahoochee at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
