Baseball Game Preview: Canton Tigers vs. Clopton Hawks

The Canton Tigers will face off against the Clopton Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Canton is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Canton proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Scotland County. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Canton has posted since April 9, 2024.

Meanwhile, Clopton fell victim to North Callaway and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Thunderbirds, falling 10-0. The loss continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Thunderbirds: they've now lost four in a row.

Canton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Clopton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Canton was able to grind out a solid victory over Clopton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 8-4. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
