Softball Game Preview: Lakewood Spartans vs. Tarpon Springs Spongers

Lakewood hasn't had much luck against Tarpon Springs recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Spartans are taking a road trip to face off against the Spongers at 7:00 p.m. Lakewood has given up an average of 17.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lakewood is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Southeast, falling 22-4.

Meanwhile, Tarpon Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 14-4 to East Lake.

Tarpon Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Lakewood suffered a grim 24-0 defeat to Tarpon Springs in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
