Baseball Game Preview: Granbury Pirates vs. Azle Hornets

Granbury is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Azle is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Granbury will host Azle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Granbury's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Birdville 1-0. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won three in a row.

Granbury saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Riley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Riley hit this season.

Meanwhile, Azle was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They won by a run and slipped past Saginaw 2-1.

Garrin Graves spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.

Azle's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Granbury, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
