Softball Recap: La Costa Canyon Victorious

La Costa Canyon hadn't done well against Rancho Buena Vista recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mavericks walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Longhorns. The win continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Longhorns: they've now won three in a row.

Norah Coulsell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Addy Brown was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Malia Whitehouse was another key player, getting three hits from her three at bats.

La Costa Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rancho Buena Vista only posted a batting average of .160.

La Costa Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 11-5-1. As for Rancho Buena Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.
