Softball Recap: North Decatur Chargers vs. Edinburgh Lancers
North Decatur had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-6 to make it five. They came up short against the Edinburgh Lancers, falling 10-4. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Brooklyn White made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Stier, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
As for Edinburgh, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games.
On Edinburgh's side, Kenna Streeval was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Streeval has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Adalynn Ramey was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Shyla Watt, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
While North Decatur had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
