Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Salus Christian Eagles vs. Claiborne Academy Rebels

The Mt. Salus Christian Eagles will take on the Claiborne Academy Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mt. Salus Christian is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Tensas Academy just ended the team's three-game winning streak last Tuesday. They fell to the Chiefs 65-60. Even if the Eagles couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Claiborne Academy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Chiefs 66-33. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Mt. Salus Christian better focus on containing Reagan Feazell and Garrett Adams as the pair were huge in Claiborne Academy's win. Feazell dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Adams posted 19 points and four steals. That's the most points Adams has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Buckner, who had four points along with five assists and five boards.

The victory (which was Claiborne Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-9. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Mt. Salus Christian, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
