Baseball Game Preview: Loyola Cubs vs. Chaminade Eagles

For the second straight game, Loyola will face off against Chaminade. The Cubs will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Loyola's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Chaminade's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Loyola hadn't beaten Chaminade on the road since April 24, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Cubs walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Eagles.

Robbie Peppell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Loyola let Robert Rapp and Luca Marucci run wild. Rapp scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Marucci went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Marucci has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of James Dell'Amico, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Loyola's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Chaminade, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
