West Sequoia league recap: 5/14/12

This could be a critical week for Fowler, which holds a 2.0-game lead over Caruthers for the league's top spot in the standings.

The Blue Raiders (16-7, 6-2) are red-hot, having won four straight games, the longest such streak in West Sequoia. Two of those wins came in the past week, including a 10-9 victory over Firebaugh and a 10-9 win over Firebaugh.

Parlier struck out 45 times as a team over the past week, but Riverdale is still the biggest offender of swings and misses on the season, with 161 in all

Fresno Christian's pitching staff was best in the league in terms of hits allowed, with just six over the past week. On the year, Fresno Christian has allowed only 72 hits.



The Cowboys's Josh Griggs led the league in strikeouts this week with seven. With 23 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks fourth in the league.

The Panthers' Julio Alonso led the league with 14 hits this week. On the season, he's hitting .426 and ranks fourth in the league with 23 hits.
