Basketball Recap: North Charleston Takes a Loss

North Charleston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 73-20 defeat at the hands of the Burke Bulldogs. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in January.

Burke found their leader in freshman Nathaya Phoenix, who dropped a double-double on 41 points and 13 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Phoenix has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kendall Smith, who went 5 of 12 en route to 14 points along with six boards and four steals.

North Charleston's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Burke, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

North Charleston will host Hampton County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Burke will take on St. John's Christian Academy in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burke is facing St. John's Christian Academy at the right time seeing as St. John's Christian Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
